Dear mum

As we come to the end of another year, wondering what the next will bring, I am reminded of the saying;
'Today is the tomorrow I was worrying about yesterday. And all is well.'
Happy New Year to one and all, may it be one that is prosperous, filled with love and fun. A magically unfolding adventure into the unknown, where the only certainty is change. And best laid plans don't always go to plan, they very often take unexpected turns and, if you let them, can actually turn out more exciting and workable.

Dear mum
From he big picture down to the detail. My question and enquiry today was 'What do I want to accomplish in 2019?'
After being drawn to look at 8 areas of my life I decided to pair them off and give each pair a 3 month period of focus. And if anything comes up that is in another area I will just make a note to focus on that in the allotted time period - so stop me going off track.
After spending an amazing day with Arti Shah, talking about and creating what we wanted to accomplish for the year, in particular the first 3 months for the pair of life areas to be focused on, I can now spend the next 2 days writing it out clearly - at present it is all just rough notes! Make sure I display it so I can keep in sight what I want to accomplish. Then at the end of each quarter do the same for the next pair.
Focus and commitment are the key words here. In order to maintain my focus I need to reconnect with my why. To do this I need to write out my story, opening up into the depths of the emotional aspects, the aspects that have long since been buried and forgotten, and write from there.
For some it may be a case of rewriting their story and opening up into the emotional aspects.
The thing to do is to notice when you become sidetracked, a sign of disconnection from your why and your story, do the inner work and then rewrite it. And get back on track.
My first two life areas are career/work and physical (health and environment).

Dear mum,

And now that Christmas is over, and our elf on a shelf has disappeared, I find myself in that in between time where thoughts turn to the new year ahead.
Firstly looking back and feeling grateful for all the ups and downs - such great growth moments, even if they didn't feel like it at the time!
Then looking forward to the expansion and growth 2019 will bring. 2019 - adding the digits eventually gets down to the number 3, a very powerful number promising a very powerful year.
Now is the time to create intention for this new year and create space to allow for more than that to show up.
Feeling blessed and grateful for Georgie Druce's partnership in creating energy and intention for 2019..............
A year of spectacular good fortunes. A fortunate, very lucky year. Acknowledging others ways of doing things, and their ideas,, then allowing ourselves to put our own spin on it and to emerge in our own unique way.
Being the bridge and creating communication mastery on a whole different level.
Exciting and exhilarating.
And now wondering what others might be creating?

Dear mum

Remembering your last Boxing day and how much fun it was, lots of reminiscing and laughter as old jokes and puzzles were remembered and told.
Today I am grateful for a different kind of Boxing day, a peaceful and wonderfully relaxed day.

Dear mum
Love my annual pressie - a  box of Bassetts' Liquorice Allsorts. On the box was written - all sorts of fun.
And all sorts of fun was had today with the meal we created. Three types of meat, chicken, lamb and duck....no turkey, plus 2 types of stuffing, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and parsnips, Yorkshire puddings carrot and swede mash, brussel sprouts, baby corn, onion sauce, mint sauce and cranberry sauce.......yuuummy.
And then the cracker jokes - mine was 'What animals need oiling?'
'Mice, because they squeak'. ðŸ˜„😄😄
Hoping many others had an all sorts of fun day.

Dear mum

I found a picture tonight on Facebook, a great reminder, and memory jogger of all the Christmas Eves spent looking out of the car window searching the skies, as we drove home after visiting family. It was of Santa and his sleigh with the reindeers flying through the sky, and the moon hanging low. It had the words - May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve.

Sadly those days are in the past. Life changes and the way we spend Christmas has changed.
And I have a choice how to be around this and I choose to smile as I remember Christmas' past and open into love and gratitude for them and for what is now.
Yes it is Christmas, yes it is different and yes it still has the energy of magic and miracles.
And I wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Dear mum

According to Einstein, we can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
So consider that, by the same token, we won't get the success we are after if we continue to do things in the same order.

This was born out when my grandson attempted to ride his bike after his stabilisers were taken off. He found he was unable to ride it. On observing his actions I realised he was still trying to do things in the same order as when he had the stabilisers on. Namely .put both feet on the pedals at the same time and attempt to pedal in order to get going, and then get frustrated because he kept falling sideways! Once I got him to get going first, by pushing off, he could then put both feet on the pedals and pedal to keep going. By changing the order he found himself easily riding the bike once more.

As Spencer Johnson writes in his book 'Who Moved my Cheese?'
'Enjoy change, savour the adventure and enjoy the taste of new cheese.'

Dear mum,

'Minus - I hate it, it is such an ugly word!'
I am intrigued as I hear someone say this.
'Because it has I and us together and that's weird, it shouldn't be like that. I and us shouldn't be together.'
Suddenly I see where they had gone with it and their initial statement made sense.
'I don't like the word Plus either, it reminds me of a Jack-in-the-box .'
Again I am intrigued. How does this connect?
'It's the plus sign on the eyes and I don't like Jack-in-the-boxes. I find them scary'
Wow! You never know what you stir up in someone else with the use of some simple everyday words. It adds another level of letting go of what you write, how you write it and what words you use for fear of people taking it the wrong way or not understanding what you are on about.
I am learning - just write from the heart, write what is true for you, with words that work for you and accept people will experience whatever they choose to experience from it, go wherever they go with it and respond however they respond to it. And it's all perfect.

Dear mum,

I have been reflecting on the rich array of words we have in the English language and how I am now enjoying exploring them.

Thursday, 20 December 2018

Dear mum,

So after pondering on yesterday's post I woke up this morning with my answer....
To write is to feel tortured!
And with several things I wanted to write today I felt a heaviness within me - putting off the writing once more.
I am grateful for the responses to my post, as they seemed joyful, and amazing, and although not part of my world somehow they created an opening to something new. Even so I couldn't shake off the thought I woke up with.
In my world this feeling tortured is having a sense of what I want to write, a feeling, fleeting thoughts that won't materialise into a coherent flow of words on paper.. Ending up sitting, looking at the page, going and finding something to eat, watching TV or feeling so tired I want to go to sleep.
Crossing out and starting over again and again, fingers twiddling the pen. A sense of 'Where am I going with this? Lets leave it for another day'
But this time something had me sit with it, keep coming back to t. I asked myself 'Who am I being?'
And got the answer 'I am being cowardly and closed - wanting to dodge away.
I then asked
'Who could I be being?'
And got the answer 'courageous, fun-loving, happy and open.'
And then heard -
'Smile instead of frown
Breathe instead of hold your breath
Allow yourself to pause, think, review and write instead of pushing yourself to write continuously and get it right first time
Stop making yourself wrong
Love and accept how writing is and how it isn't, for you
Love all the crossings out'
Plus the words of a song
'Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile....'
And so smiled and began to relax.
What I had been fighting writing about was the shift away from my first thought to something that touched, moved and inspired me to write something, complete it and post it
.
To write is to touch another's life'
and that suddenly the responses to my post began to feel part of my world.
This shift was caused by me reading a post by an ex pupil of mine and realising you never know what impact or help your words may have for someone else..

Dear mum,

This caught my eye on my vision board tonight and created a query in my head......
To dance is to live.....
To write is to ...............? (Fill in the blank)
Am pondering on this.💖

Dear mum,

Did you ever feel curtailed, cramped or hemmed in around writing?
Today, as I did this weeks' daily routine of 5 mins of scribbling with both left and right hands - pen held using the power grip, I felt an anger begin to emerge. A deep seated frustration of feeling hampered in someway and a huge desire to break free from it.
Again, I wonder what has happened in the past to lock in such deep seated emotion?
And then, in the freeing up of that emotion, allowing it expression, I felt the tension in my head begin to ease and the flow of words becoming unlocked for today's bit of writing.

Dear mum,

I just thought I would share this with you........

Writing was always a nightmare for me.
Why?
Because I struggled to find the words. I found it hard work putting pen to paper, constructing my thoughts into words and sentences that felt right, or said what I wanted to say. More often than not I would put it off, as I felt a weighty knot in my stomach pull me away.
'I can't do this!' very much alive within me.
I HATED doing composition at school never knowing what to write. My mind stuck on the title or the opening sentence we had been given, unable to move on from it. I have often likened it to puling teeth over the years. How I ever passed my English language 'O' level I never knew - maybe I wasn't as bad at it as I thought!
Over the last 20 years or so a lot has changed for me, especially around writing and words. And so I find myself wondering about other people's experience of writing - now and especially at school.............

Dear Mum and Dad I heard this the other day on an Aurora Teagarden movie:- 'It's when things go wrong that you especially need to...
